AI & automation

Put AI inside the process, not beside it.

Median 31% reduction in manual handling across the last nine deployments. Every model ships with an evaluation harness and a rollback path, because a model you cannot measure is a liability.

Overview

What this actually involves

The failure mode we are usually called in to fix is a proof of concept that impressed everyone and never reached production. Getting there is not a modelling problem; it is an integration, evaluation, and operations problem.

We select the use case on expected value rather than novelty, build the evaluation harness before the model, and integrate into the system of record so the output has somewhere to go.

What we actually fix

What we are usually called in to fix

Three problems, in the words clients use when they describe them to us.

  • The problem

Our team spends two days a week re-keying data between systems.

    What we do

Process mapping to find where the handling actually is, then automation built into the existing systems rather than a new tool nobody opens.

    Result

    −31% handling

  • The problem

We built a proof of concept last year and it never went live.

    What we do

We start from the production constraints — evaluation, monitoring, rollback, and integration — and work backwards to the model.

    Result

    9 in production

  • The problem

Nobody can tell me whether the model is right.

    What we do

An evaluation harness with a labelled set from your own data, run on every change, with the results visible to your team, not ours.

What you get

How this is different from the version that failed last time

  • Use case chosen on value

We rank candidates by expected value and feasibility before writing anything.

  • Evaluation before model

The harness and labelled set exist before the first model, so quality is measurable from day one.

  • Integrated into the system of record

Output lands in the ERP, CRM, or ticket queue people already use.

  • Rollback path always

Every deployment can be reverted to the previous behaviour in minutes.

  • Humans stay in the loop

Confidence thresholds route uncertain cases to a person rather than guessing.

  • Your data stays yours

Deployment into your cloud or VPC where the data residency requires it.

How we work

How the engagement runs

Durations are medians. Your assessment turns them into dates.

  1. 1

    Assess

Written findings and a scope estimate
  2. 2

    Design

Target state and a sequence that proves the risky parts first, signed off before build.

    Duration
    2–3 weeks
    Deliverable
    Blueprint and phased plan
  3. 3

    Deliver

Increments demonstrated to your process owners every two weeks rather than reported on.

    Duration

  4. 4

    Operate

They gave us a fixed go-live date in week two and hit it. What I actually valued was that the handover documentation was good enough that my team ran the second plant rollout themselves.

FAQ

Questions about ai & automation

Still have questions?

Ask an engineer directly. No sales sequence.

Do we need a data science team to maintain this?

No. The evaluation harness runs in your CI and reports pass or fail against a threshold you set. Maintaining it needs an engineer, not a researcher. Where ongoing model work is genuinely required, we will say so before you commit.

What happens when the model is wrong?

Cases below a confidence threshold route to a person instead of being actioned automatically. The threshold is a parameter you control, and we tune it with you during hypercare against your own tolerance for error.

Can this run in our own cloud?

Yes — deployment into your VPC is the default where data residency or procurement requires it. We document what leaves your network, which is usually nothing.

How do you choose which process to automate first?

Expected annual hours returned, divided by implementation effort, filtered by whether the process is stable enough to automate. We publish the ranking so you can disagree with it.

An engineer, thirty minutes, and a straight answer about whether this is the right approach for you.

No sales sequence — one reply from an engineer.
